After the run, a lunch will be offered by donation and there will also be raffles and live musical entertainment, featuring local musicians. Countdown to Miles for Smiles 2012!

The Semiahmoo House Society is a non-profit organization located in South Surrey which exists to provide quality services and support to people with disabilities and their families. Specifically, we will be fundraising for the Rec and Leisure Program which receives zero government funding. The program offers various recreational classes, events and trips throughout the year. These events provide disabled individuals with a safe and fun environment where they can socialize, build independence, and learn new skills.

Our event is completely funded by sponsorships and we are currently looking for corporate and personal sponsors to aid us with our second annual event. Sponsorship money will be put towards event necessities such as music equipment rentals as well as purchasing food and advertisements. If you are interested in sponsoring our event, please read our sponsorship proposal and contact us at [email protected]. Thank you in advance for your help!

Please note that all donations will be processed by our sponsor, ADTU Enterprises. It will appear as “ADTUENT” on your statement. All proceeds go to the Semiahmoo House Society.

2011 Run

This event is coordinated by Michelle Shalinsky and Teresita Aristizabal who are two local students. They created this event last year with the intention of raising community awareness about Semiahmoo House Society and the aid it provides to individuals with developmental disabilities. Michelle and Teresita volunteered at Semihamoo House Society throughout high school and also worked as summer camp counsellors for the society. They fell in love with the inviting community that is Semiahmoo House Society and have been heavily involved in volunteering and fundraising since. Last year, they took initiative in spearheaded this event and achieved a turnout beyond their wildest expectations.

Semiahmoo House Society is a non-profit organization in South Surrey that exists to provide quality services and support to people with disabilities and their families. They work with individuals of all ages who have acquired brain injuries and developmental disabilities. They also offer various programs such as assisted living, recreation and leisure, personal development and more. The purpose of these programs is to build important life skills and some programs also focus on career and housing opportunities.

The greatest part of Semiahmoo House Society, however, is the community environment that it fosters. Not only is it an extremely open community but it also embraces everyone and anyone who chooses to enter it. Semiahmoo House Society is a place that fosters life-long friendships, where everyone is treated equally. The Semiahmoo House community and everything it has to offer is what Miles for Smiles would like to celebrate. Please join us at this year’s Miles for Smiles run to show your support for the Semiahmoo House Society.
